Hi! My name is Penny, and I am a rising high school senior based in Brooklyn, NY. I have spent my entire life swimming in the ocean and bay of Fire Island, and I have been a competitive swimmer for the past 9 years. Along the way, I have had the opportunity to qualify for English Nationals and Senior Metropolitan Championships and to set my school swimming record multiple times.
I have experience teaching swimmers of all ages and skill levels as a swim instructor with the SwimStrong Foundation, where I have taught since the beginning of my sophomore year.
I am especially excited to teach swimming in Dunewood Bay, the same place where I first learned to swim as a child. It is a meaningful opportunity to help others build confidence in the water in a place that has been such an important part of my own swimming journey.

Hi! My name is Fiona, and I am a rising high school junior based in Wilton, CT. Ever since I could remember, swimming has always been a huge part of my life. I started competitively swimming when I was just five years old. As I’ve grown, I’ve continued swimming competitively through programs such as the Ridgewood YMCA, the nationally ranked program Wilton Wahoos, and the Wilton High School swim team.
I have been coming down to Fire Island for 16 summers, and this summer will be my second year as a Dunewood lifeguard.
My goal is to help kids become confident, safe, and comfortable swimmers, and to help them grow to love the sport as much as I do.
